RSV – Respiratory Syncytial Virus Vaccine

RSV for people aged 75-80 years

RSV is a new single dose routine vaccination programme for patients turning 75 years, who remain eligible for vaccination until they attain 80 years of age.

This routine RSV vaccination programme will be implemented from 1 September 2024 for those turning 75 years on or after this date. At DHC we will be inviting patients to attend clinics to receive these vaccinations, starting with those aged 79 years who are due this vaccination before they turn 80 years old. We will then extend this invitation out to the rest of the eligible population.

Those individuals aged 75 to 79 on 31 August 2024 will remain eligible for vaccination until they attain 80 years of age. Those turning 80 before the 31st of August 2025 will be eligible up until 31st August 2025.

RSV for Pregnant Women

The RSV vaccination is also available for pregnant women who are already at least 28 weeks pregnant. This vaccination is being administered by the midwives however, Deddington Health Centre are able to offer these vaccinations opportunistically or upon request.

Please be aware that the RSV vaccinations cannot be given at the same time as the flu vaccination.
