Accessing someone else’s information

Online proxy access is when someone else (parent, family member or carer) has permission to access aspects of another person’s medical record online. It helps them look after the patient and allows them to see their allergies and/or immunisations, to order repeat prescriptions and to see any appointments already booked. Online proxy access is most beneficial to parents/carers who need to order repeat medication for the patient if they are not yet old enough or unable to manage this themselves.

It does not allow you to see their test results, consultations or health documents.

Further information can be found in these guides and links to forms:

Linked profiles in your NHS account

Once proxy access is set up, you can access the other person’s profile in your NHS account, using the NHS App or website.

The NHS website has information about using linked profiles to access services for someone else.
